Good Day Eh. Went for a nice two wheelen trip last night up the mountians for a supper picnic (with the Colonel).Noticed when I got to the top that my 2 1/2 spring lift wasn't. #1 son says Hey Dad what happened to the Jeep. Noticed the typical jeep lean on the drivers side was a whole lot more then normal. This spring lift is about 13 years old but only has about 10,000 miles on it. So I guess this winter I will be hunting down and fixing this issue.
Any suggestions. The current set up is very stiff(makes the back teeth rattle) I loosened off the clamps and put a bolt and roller thru to reduce leaf fricton as well as cleaned up the leaves with a grinder and 100 grit pad. This helped maginally. Maybe my shocks are too big. Monroe Magnums from the late 80's.Took them off and wheeled abit couldn.t tell much of a differance. Another method I tried was black plastic(from a specilty plastic place) between the leaves. Again hard to tell. half of them are now on my utility trailer.
Anyone try the spring under YJ conversion? It might be alittle tight in the rear shackle department because of my rear fuel tank but I'm going to keep my options open. Thanks for sticking around and reading the whole thing. Jim

im doing a yj conversion on my 66 right now. iwent the cheap but hard way and made all my own brackets and hangers though. the easier way is to buy the M.O.R.E shackle reversal kit and modify it to fit on your cj6. it upposedl rides really cush(as cush as jeep springs go). the tech section on this site and JP magazine's site have some pretty good write ups on this issue.

heres a pic of mine w/ springs mounted

My first choice would be the holbrooks.
Next would be a new set of "soft ride" lift springs. My Skyjacker softrides made a huge difference over the old stiff stock springs.

The Holbrooks are great and simple to put on (IMO). I have them on the one in the pic - they made a HUGE diff in the ride.
