Is there an alternator out there that can replace my stock one (with voltage regulator) with one that doesn't need a voltage regulator?

If you've got the 225, I got mine (80 Amp) from Advance Auto P/N P7127M-12. Direct replacement for the stock Motorola. It eliminated the external regulator.

You should be able to go to any Napa and get a 63 10SI or an 80 amp with no problem.

No. Just the modle #. One of the most common of AC Delco Alts.

I still have the Motorola 35 A, external regulator, alternator. One of these days I'm going to switch over to the 63A AC.

You can go to the Napa website and check out the Alts. that they have.

Kragen, Checkers, Pep Boys and/ or NAPA "should" be able to cross reference the P/N for you. It's pretty much a standard GM alternator, just physically larger in the main body area, mount points were identical...

I'm running an AC Delco 94-amp alternator with the internal regulator. It's part number: 321-1015. I believe it was for some mid-'80s GM trucks.
