    Hello All -

So I knew something was wrong when I jumped in the Jeep and the steering wheel said "Chevrolet". I have no idea what it came out of. It has a non-functional horn, ignition switch, and directional signal on it. Considering I have no working lights on the rig and I know that most of the lighting wires route through the directional switch at some point, I assume this is my problem.
I need to know what is necessary to put an original column in the Jeep ('56 CJ5)? Do I need everything from the gear up (e.g. all bearings, shaft, column tube, and wheel)? Also, did this model even have directional signals? If I'm going to rewire everything, I might as well start with the real column rather than try to figure out what the wires are coming out of the bottom of the current column tube. Also, I'm pretty tall so has anyone put a tilt wheel in one of these. It might help me squeeze in and out of the sardine can.
    Advice would be much appreciated.

    Regards,

    elllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllis

i am gueesing you have saginaw steering added in. so if you are looking for a original working setup, you will most likely need to get a postal jeep column or one out of a 72-75 CJ5. this one is splined on the bottom to goto the saginaw box

I put a tilt column in mine. I also wasn't good at the wiring. So i got a complete wiring harnis out of a Buick Regal. That way the wires would plug into the column.
