welp, when i finished up all my work last week i bled the brakes and had some fun with things. lo and behold the freshy bled brakes could lock up all fours at 45 when nailed hard. the only problem seems to be that i managed to put a master cylinder from a 76-78 jeep in, which has the ports going into the frame rail... which somehow has led to a leak. figures huh?

now then, my question is this: while junk yard diving i found the early 80's fords have what look to be the same master cylinder, but with ports on the passenger side (no more framerail!!). so it seems like i'm getting somewhere... but when looking up the part, a remanned power unit goes for 35ish, no core charge. the non-power unit, however, goes for a good 90ish. given this, and the fact that i can't tear one apart right now and find out for myself, what's the difference between the power and manual cylinders? could they possibly be used interchangably for my purpose?

also, if for some reason i can use either one, the ford has a bore of 1" whereas the jeep has a bore of 1 1/16". now then, i know that 1" is less than 1 1/16", but would that make a massive difference? and if anyone ahs tried this and run into problems i would like to hear some voices of wisdom instead of learning the hard way...

    TIA guys

I'm pretty sure that power MC use a larger bore than manual MC. Not for certain though.
