    Whats the difference between a Fram C3 oil filter and a C3P?
    And last night had the jeep out past dark and had a heavy dew came up, when I got home my hands, pants, and shirt were covered with greasy black goo from the steering wheel. I driven this thing all summer and thought it was pretty well clean. Is there anything to clean or seal it that won't eat it?

    I'm not sure whether I had the same problem but everytime the steering wheel got wet my hands got black. We are having warm days and cool nights here in Mass so there is dew on everything in the morning. My solution was to clean the wheel with Windex and then, using a spray can, I applied several coats of clear lacquer to sealed off the worn surfaces. I just did this yesterday and it worked great and the wheels looks alot better too. I used furniture lacquer so it may need to be renewed from time to time.

    from the fram website:
    C3 = standard media
    C3P = stacked disc media

    just the material inside the filter is my guess

    I don't want to badmouth Allied Signal (Fram) filters, but as an engineer involved with military vehicles, I wouldn't put one on my own vehicle. Here is a nuts-and-bolts comparison of various filter makes (read the letter from the Fram engineer):

    Have a look at the inside of one of their filters yourself, and make your own decision.

    I have read thru that many many times; some of it is interesting reading.
    I don't know of anyone who has used Fram filters, changed their oil and filter on a regular basis, and had their engine go bad on them, due to Fram oil filters, do you ?
    I'm not sticking up for Fram, but I have used their products from time to time.
    Mojave, what was your opinion likes/dislikes of Fram before you read that study ?
    just curious, nothing more

    I use Fram for all my oil filters. Normally I change my oil somewhere around 2,500 miles so the filter is not doing a whole lot. Anyway I love that suregrip, makes it so easy to change a filter in the tight confines of under my Neon.
