when installing my disk brakes i was told to put a residual pressure valve in because the calipers needed three pounds on them constantly. i bought the valve, but this was before i swapped master cylinders with a resevoir for disk brakes. if the master cylinder is set up for disk brakes (non vacume if that matters) would i need the RPV in there?? wouldn't the valves in the master cylinder keep the constant pressure up front??

reason i'm asking is because i finally found my brake leak, and it's out of the pressure valve. if i can get rid of this and just have a brake line going straight to the front junction box i would do it in a heart beat.

The residual valves are needed if the master will be below the level of the calipers AFIK. Their purpose is to prevent back siphoning of brake fluid. The new master may already have a residual valve. Unfortunately, I can not tell you how to ensure that. AM

Also don't need one if you are using a disc-brake MC. In that case, the RPV is already in the output of one of the MC ports, but you have to be using the right port!
