When I got my 75 cj5, it had a bestop that was not installed. It looks like the prev owner had pulled some parts from a 76+ cj, and with a bent wndshld frame, I don't know if it will fit when I get a new(75) wndshld frame. Is there a way to tell what it fits?
    Thanks

the doors on a 75 mount into the body and have snaps on the windsheild frame. 76 will have mounts on the body that the both drop down into. ( like two hinges)

Isn't that a Tiger top setup as opposed to a Supertop though? They now sell both for the 72-75s, not just the Tiger with the snaps. ;) Plus it looks like your windshield motor is on the outside, wouldn't this mean a 75 WS frame? I thought 76+ was mounted on the inside.

The angle of the door tops will tell you- the ECJ is much more verticle than the late model.

    you can make either fit.

i have a '75 with a '76-later windshield frame. it had a tiger top for a '75 when i bought it, and the doors had been "adjusted".

i bought a '75 supertop for it, and "adjusted" the doors a little, and applied a shim along the sill to tilt the '76 frame forward. it works well enough - i've had it for about 8 years now in this configuration.

Nothing personal, but I have that setup on my 'glass '6, and it looks horrible.

Bought a late '6 top from Kamel, and will be rebuilding the cage to allow the late model windshield to sit where it belongs.

Also- you would have to bend the heck out of an intermediate W/S frame to get it to match late model doors.

uh, no bending of the frame. only the doors. a shim is used along the sill to tip the windshield forward, however, the frame isn't bent.

pretty sure that you can't tell i've got a '75 top mated to a '76 framed jeep. it fits pretty well. to each their own, in any event.

ah. i see the confusion. my intended response was that either a '75 or '76 top could be used with the '76 frame, which is the configuration the original poster has. :stout: as you noted, a '75 frame would not work well with a '76 top/door setup.

Gotcha- yeah, my '73 has a late model frame and early style top on it right now. (The only '6 top you can get in the states)

I thought you were saying he could fit a late top to his ECJ, which would require bending the W/S frame.
