I am heading off for about a weeks worth of camping/wheelin. I recall a thread on recommended bring along items, but I cant seem to come up with the correct search phrase. Any leads?

Here is what I have so far:

    Tools:
    -socket and wrench set
    -vice grips
    -leatherman
-hacksaw (yes I have had need and used one in the past)
    -pliers and wire cutters
    -feeler gauge
    -lug wrench
-hilift jack and a bottle jack
    -tiny butane soldering torch
    -allen keys
    -d30 spindle socket
    -big and little hammers
    -a little funnel
    -a couple of punches

    Parts:
    -fuel pump and filter
    -oil filter and engine oil
    -diff lube
    -thermostat gasket
    -upper and lower rad hose
    -fan belts
    -air filter
    -ujoints and ubolt kits
    -spare ignition box and dist.
    -spark plugs (pregapped) and wires
    -spare cap and rotor
    -brake fluid
    -power steering fluid
    -fuses and bulbs
    -spare ignition coil
    -

    Extras:
    -electrical and duct tape
    -bailing wire
-2 10' spools of 10ga wire and various crimp connectors
    -rad stop leak
-tire puncture repair and one of those 'fix your tire cans"
-assortment of nuts, bolts, and washers
-a big towel, a roll of shop rags, and some left over diapers (great for containing spills)
    -super black silicon
    -gasket material
    -thread sealer
    -super 300 gasket dope
    -rain suit
    -small tarp and a blanket
    -30' tow strap
    -gloves
    -water
-2 gas cans (the amc 304 is not so thrifty on gas)
-some beer and tequila for the evenings

I have a plastic tool chest that measures 12" wide, about 36" long, and about 14" deep that I stuff all the above crap in (except for the obvious things like the hilift and gas cans). It sits in place of the rear seat.

    Am I forgetting anything important?

    Pretty comprehensive list.

You know that you will break the one thing you did not bring a spare for. :D

Dang - a spare air filter and oil filter? You gonna run that many miles out there? :)

I'd say do a comprehensive sevice on your rig B4 you go and leave the scheduled maintenance stuff at home.

I didn't noice an extra fully charged battery or emergency jump pack. The'yre worth their weight in miles hiked to civilzation.

    A good snatch-blocked come-along?

Scuse me if you did include them.

PVC saws are great for cutting those saplings up to 4" or so trees than can manage to wedge twixt your body or bumper & wheel, leaving you to do donuts around the tree.

Even w/the tequila, I'd bring sterno or good beeswax candles for the base of a wet fire, I've left a few collectble Zippos at the base of some fires that never would have burned without.

My Jeep's basic kit was a Leatherman, tie wire, u-bolts, hose clamps, & duct tape. Mine is a good blade, Leatherman, bandana, & Zippo.

Re-read and noticed you forgot jumper cables. Get a set of them in your kit, also some welding rod and second set of cables to "trail weld".

Also an assortment of hose clamps is handy. Couple rolls of Duct tape is a must, a roll of electrical tape, a test light, spare fuses, misc. wire connectors, grease gun, tube of grease, trash bags.......

WD-40 will dry you distributor cap better than tequila & also make a good torch. (it's pressurized kerosene)

You can make a test light from an 1157 - tape your awl or a carpet tack to the bottom & tape 16 Ga wire around the side.

oops, gotta have a US-Made trenching tool, at least a Montana Sharpshooter shovel (long & narrow rounded) & hatchet.

Lav- "great minds, same gutter" just joshing, except an extra oil filter doesn't take up much space and if he takes one good dunk & draws in some water, the oil could be drained, the water separated, and a new filter installed for the dregs. Those diapers (I use sanitary pads) could draw off the water in the oil. Both are also great emergency bandages for large wounds & good tinder when sprayed w/WD.
