i was just wondering if i could swap my 225 for a 231 with very minor changes, i think i herd somewhere that the bellhousing is the same on both engines so it should be a fairly simple swap, right? im asking this because i have easy acess to a new 231 or else i will have to get the 225 rebuilt :( i will appreciate any info

I did it in my 70 CJ5 and it was a easy swap, did not change a thing.

Hey Deputy Dave, do us a favor and fill out yer profile so we know where ya are! And yeah the 231 is a direct swap.. the only issues I can think of are the exhaust manifolds which ain't no big thing..

I just pulled the 231 out of the 51 and replaced it with a 225. I didn't like the double eared BH on the 231 and put a 225 one on, but other than that everything swapped fine.

I'd stay with the 225. They just seem to hold together better. My brother has had to replace his 231 twice (rod knocks). The old 225 just keeps on ticking.
