The only sending unit I could find for my under the seat tank does not have a return line from the fuel pump. Does anyone know if I can just cap off the return at the fuel pump with out problems?

I have two underseat tanks and only the driver side has the plumbing to take the return line. My problem is that if I run on the passenger side, the driver side tank fills up. And running at high rpms on the passenger side starves the engine to where I have to (manually) switch it over or risk dying (usually on the freeway). I've switched caps and know they are venting but apparently not fast enough. So I wind up almost always using only the driver side.
Should I go ahead and plug the return line? I've read that that can result in vapor lock. And after noticing how much fuel comes out of that return line, I'm wondering if there might be other problems that could create. The Jeep already runs a bit too rich, this wouldn't make that worse would it? And I wouldn't want to have both sides starve like the passenger side does now.
I'm thinking of fabricating one big tank that stretches across under both seats with an equalizer tube plumbed in underneath. That's a bigger project than I want to do at this point though.

I have a front tank and a rear tank. The return line is to the front. I run the back tank second. That puts gas into the front after there is room for it. Kind of a pain but it lets me carry quite alot of fuel.

Gregg: Any radiator shop can plumb in a return line in the tank for you. Some people have had vapor lock problems and the return line fixes it. I think that's why it was there in the first place. My '68 has one. But, no harm will come from blocking it off. If you get vapor lock, you know how to fix it.

My Jeep was victim to previous owner stupidity, and among other things he took off the return line. I have a pipe plug on top the tank where it goes, but don't run one and have had no problems. One way to look at it is don't fix it if it ain't broke.
