Which Starter do I have

    Need to replace my stater soon... how can you tell the difference between a prestolite, and a delco? :flag: :AMC:

    I've never personally seen a Prestolite V6 starter, but if it's a Delco, it should have "Delco Remy" stamped into the body along with a long part number usually starting with a "1." Also, some older Delcos have a little "Delco Remy" stamp on the aluminum housing where the solenoid attaches.

    Bob- They do exist. I have one on mine which was out of a 69 CJ5. It has a Ford style solenoid mounted on top(which I moved to the fender). It will have a Prestolite tag on it. I can take a pic if anyone wants to see it.
