Coil Question?

    I don't have a meter... is there an easy way to trst to see if a coil is good?

    One way to check a suspect coil is to swap in a coil that you know is good.

    Good point! But I don't want to buy one if I know that this one is still good?

    You could rig it up on the work bench. Or maybe just test it in the jeep. Stick a plug on the end of the coil wire, and hook 12 to the pos terminal. Use a old condensor from neg terminal to ground. Then take a hunk of wire and drag it across a grounded file.... You should get a stream of fire on the spark plug, and a trail of sparks at the file.

    This is your simplest breaker point ign system.

    Just to learn something, try this:
    When the above is hooked up, ground the negative terminal (leave the condenser hooked up). Notice something funny? No spark.
    Now disconnect the wire. Spark!!!
