Anyone had problems with a 67 CJ5 V6, I have rewired the whole Jeep, and now it won't start, it cranks, starts only after 2-5 minutes of cranking and the gas pedal is floored, running rough, maybe coil, ballast resistor? Any help is appreciated. :flag:

far too much cranking. sounds like a wire is missing. waht is your voltage @ the : starter, key, battery, coil and resistor?

you could also try running a jumper wire from the starter to the coil and see if that helps.

    almost forgot:

Welcome from IN. any pics? location? as someone might be close by.

Pull the coil wire out of the distributor cap, hold the end of it near something metal and have someone crank the engine over. You should get a very bright blue spark with a fairly loud snap. If you don't, there's a problem somewhere in the ignition system. Could be anything from resistor to coil to points, condenser, etc etc. Check that first and let us know.

    that ain't right.
Volts at coil? There is supposed to be a wire from Starter to coil that feeds full voltage when cranking, I can work without it.... Points adjusted correctly? Distributer is installed right?

run a jumper wire from "+" post on the battery to coil and see if that helps.
