I have a 1971 CJ5 and would like to convert all the drum brakes to disc. The problem is the new master cylinder is designed to mount on the firewall. My original master cylinder is mounted on the frame.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be done?

    Thanks in advance.

Herm the overdrive makes brackets to install modern MCs at the frame level. I swapped out both my 5 and pickup.

I have a 56 that I converted to 4whl discs and used the original master cylinder. You have to go into the master cylinder and remove the restrictor (small dished piece with holes in it) in order to get the calipers to release when letting off the brake. I've had them on now for many years with no problems.
