Dana 25 Dana 27 interchangeability

    I have a 1960 D27 axle housing that I am hoping to put a powerlock posi in and want to use 4:27 gears which I have a set from a D25. Will the D25 gears work on a D27 carrier and fit into D27 housing?

    Also I have a powerlock posi that is suppose to be for a D27 I got used with 5:38 gears. Anyone know how to tell for sure it is for a D27?

    Ring & pinion and carrier are different between the D25 and the D27. Sorry.

    Do you have a part number for the Powerlock?

    the ring gear diameters are different but I don't remember what they are..
