    Seems my clutch is a little harder to depress down to shift...question, is it OK to lubricated the clutch cable or will that just attract dirt and magnify things?

    lube it up! If it is fairly clean, then graphite might be nice, or maybe silicone spray if you can get it in there. Otherwise, plain ol' oil. Since it is inside a cable, dirt should not be a issue.

    check the ends
    make sure they are not fraying
    check to make sure cable housing is not lying on exhaust system
    heat = bad
    or smashed or kinked
