I am having some difficulty in determining what to do with the seats in a 61 cj5.
Frames are in good shape, some broken springs on the drivers seat. Upholstery shop wanted about $600 to recover and have been unable to find a complete kit.
New seats (lowback bestop) are about $119 a piece. How hard is it to fabricate the newer seat onto the 1961 frame.

Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Your other option is to source some later 60's era Jeep seats and frames where the frames are not integral to the seat, then purchase some upholstery kits off eBay.

Depending on how cheaply you can get the seats, your end cost might be less than the Besttop seats.

Here's my writeup on using the upholstery kits.

FWIW, I've sat in the Besttop seats, and prefer the OE late 60's seats.

Thanks for the input everyone. Found several past articles on this same issue. May be putting interior off for a while, but at least I can formulate a plan.
