Any recommendations on a 2.5" lift for a '53 M38A1? I told myself when I bought and fixed up this jeep, that I wasn't going to worry about making it bigger and badder....well...with these new 31"s I'll have in a week or so, maybe it is time to think of making it a "little" bigger. So, I've seen some kits that range anywhere from $250 to $500 to lift 2.5". Right now, I have 1.25" wide 11 pack springs. Would lifting this require changing the leafspring mounts? It looks like lift kits basically replace the sping packs, so I'm assuming that I'd have to cut the spring perches off and weld new ones on. Correct?

This isn't going to take place for sometime as there are several other things I need to get fixed before I start lifting.....but, lifting it would also replace all the buschings and shackles which was on my list of stuff to do anyway.

Any advice on what to do and what not to do?

Please use the search function for recs.

We've discussed 2" lifts in both this and the intermediate forum several times.

Buying the correct lift will result in replacing the bushings and putting in new springs and shocks. That's it.

We're fast but not as fast as a carefully worded search for answers. ;)
