    I still trying to wire my turn indicaters and brake lights.
    I've taken apart the turn indicater and it is a mess inside with dirt and looks pretty warn. There also is a short somewhere because I'm getting a couple of volts bleading over.
    Seems to me the solution is to buy a new turn control, and then rewire everything from the firewall back.
    Does anybody have a color code for the control? Where can I buy a new one? does the front and rear blinkers run off seperate circuits. If not what are ALL those wires going?
    I am not a good auto electrical guy because I don't understand how things are interconnected. I think I can make it all work just by wiring it myself but it is an adventure.

    Gregg this is the website I used, it worked out great. I downloaded the images and instructions and printed and laminated them.

    There is alot of info here so go and read before starting.

    Picture: Wiring harness color code. Wiring colors:

    * Blue: From brake light switch
    * White: rear left
    * Red: front left
    * Black: 'L' flasher terminal
    * Green: front right
    * Orange: rear right
    * Yellow (not pictured): 'P' flasher terminal

    These are the wire colors that came on the NOS Spartan switch and match the Spartan installation sheet. The colors, however, are irrelevant. It's the position of the wires that is important. Whatever color wire that is attached where the blue wire is connected will be the wire coming from the brake light switch. Same for the rest of the wires.

    Thanks Mike. You can't imagine the mess this wiring is. Fortunately everything from the firewall forward is goodexcept one parking light and I'll just jumper that from the other one.

    heh.. i bet he can. i think that 99 out of 100 ecj's have "custom wiring" from the po's. :D

    just figuring out which wires were live, which were dead ends and what the "patches" were for took me 3 days. i was fortunate in that the harness under the hood just needed to be unwrapped and checked and then rebound with a minimum of new traces. it was the connection blocks and fuse blocks under the dash that drove me nuts. but if you take one circuit at a time it all makes sense.

    if i can do it, most anyone can. :rofl:

    i used the factory service manual, and one of the color coded wiring diagrams that someone here took the time to create as well as a short book on wiring hotrods. eventually everything worked.

    i think the turn signals/brake lights are what confused me the most for some reason.
