I saw where some one recommended Aircraft Stripper or something like that, as being the strongest stripper. Where can I buy some of that?

I'm stripping paint from the engine and frame.

Just about any automotive paint supplier will carry it. I have seen clean strip aircraft stripper in some of the home imrovment type places now and then.

Seems like I've spotted it at Autozone, if memory serves.

advanced auto carries something called TAZ strip. in a spray can. spend $7 shake, spray, heavily and in 15 minutes paint falls off. It contains MEK and is very nasty to plastics and not so good for humans, but keep it out of your eyes and try not to breath it($20 respirator with canisters and some thick industrial grade chemical resistant rubber gloves are a good idea)

Other than that it works great. You can always clean it off with the help of a wire wheel if the paint is really stubborn, but once taz has bee applied protect your eyes!

Will TAZ attack my gaskets and seals?

    Thanks for the replies.

I've used the aircraft stipper from the auto paint supply store before, and here's a tip to make it work even better: After you slather it on, cover it with plastic wrap and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Remove the wrap and then scrape it off with a putty knife and then some steel wool if need be. It seems to need some time to soak into the paint good, but if it isn't covered, it dries out and isn't as affective. It's some pretty nasty stuff and I'd make sure to wear the proper protective equipment. I don't know what it would do to seals and gaskets......

I have used Taz on lots of big metal pieces no problem. I left my cordless phone in the shop about 3 feet behind me while wire wheeling with some taz soaked paint. My phone now has custom texture grip. a few seconds and it put dimples in the plastic.

I think paper gaskets stand a good chance, but plastic or rubber I would not count on it.

A method I'm told is good is to spray stripper on around midnight let it set for say half hour(or two beers) or so then hook towbar on the jeep to your truck and go to closest car wash and spray it all off. At that time of night no waiting or cleanup at the house, or so I've been told.
