Guys - need a sanity check here. I just put the PCV and breathers on my Kenne Bell 225. I then did my seat run – my engine guy here says to run 2000 to 2500 RPMs for 20 Mins to seat the rings. When I got done it was real hard to restart the engine (had to advance the timing A LOT over 20) I then pulled the dip stick as I was seeing steam out the breather and it looks like the froth off a milk shake  . Once she cooled I popped the radiator cap off and it’s down a long way – so I am guessing I have Radiator fluid in the oil.

My machinist didn’t build this one, I bought it this way. So before I tear into it, what should I look for? I was hoping to have this going before vacation in a couple weeks, so need to get it going ASAP.

    Thanks

Disaster! If you had antifreeze in there, then the bearings have taken a beating. There are only a few places to look for problems. Front cover could leak into the timing case. One of the heads could leak into the oil return (not dreadfully likely with modern head gaskets, and proper torque) Intake manifold could leak...

Best guess is Front cover with it's myriad of bolts. Second would be a intake not sealing up real perfect. If the heads were surfaced a bunch, and the intake was not shaved to match, then that could account for it.

    Good luck!

Bad news. What was your oil pressure reading when you shut it off? How much over full is the oil dipstick reading? I guess it doesnt really matter, it is time to start tearing it apart

Ya - that's what my gut was telling me too - and there was Anti Freeze in the water as well. The weird part was oil pressure stayed pretty constant at 50, thought it would have dropped, and the 'foam' is all the way up the dipstick and coating the inside of the valve covers. I also would have thought the engine would have heated up sooner, but it didn't get real hot until the very end.

Well, guess I am pulling this one out and putting the 231 back in while this takes a trip to the machine shop. So much for saving time and money buying another persons build.

that much water and mayo in only 20 minutes of running
    sounds like gasket problem somewhere

Just heard from the machine shop (I didn't have time to do it my self) and it had a bad gasket on the front cover that once it went just pumped the pan full. I have to have new bearings and he is going to polish the crank, but I'll have it back tomorrow evening cleaned and ready to install. The dammage was limited to just those items.

With a little luck, I'll be on the road with it by the end of the weekend.
