I'm looking for a flywheel for a 82 Buick 231 even fire V6. I need one that a 225 Pressure plate and clutch will bolt to but I'm not sure what year or make of Buick I could get it from. I had the 225 flywheel rebalanced but I'm still getting a vibration so want to use a standard flywheel. :?

Did you have the 225 flywheel balanced to the 231 flex plate?
When i had my 225 OF flywheel rebalanced for my 231 EF i found out that the flex plate has some miner balance to it (its not zero balanced). If you had the flywheel balanced to zero or it was balanced with out using the flex plate, thats why you have the vibration! Hope that helps!?! :stout:

also check other things on the motor. I had my 225 flywheel balanced for my 4.1L V6. I got it balance and had a nasty vibration. Tunred out it was a loose alternator that casued the vibration, i tightned it all up and it was smooooth. Now i just got a misfire making it rough :(

Yea, I made the mistake of trying to go cheaper and listening to the people at one paticular machine shop that told me all I had to do was have them balance it without using a flex plate. Now I have to take it apart, either replace it with one from a Buick or get a flex plate and get the flywheel balanced correctly. I would like to keep the 225 flywheel for the torque value but replacing it would be simplier and less down time. The jeep is on the highway most of the time so the torque isn't a big issue.

I would still say use the flywheel. the 231 flexplate and virbation dampner is easier to come by than a 231 flywheel. I would look for a differnt shop that can balance them together. It is worth it, dont let it sink you yet.
