the rancho 9000s will not fit with the cylinder end down. the steering stop on the d27a is in the way.

is it all right to use em upside down. Cylinder up and the rod (with the red rubber cover) connected to the spring plate?

the current beat to heck shocks are much narrower and fit ok although one has a nice dent in the cylinder

anyone else have this problem on an ecj?

as always... thanks for any and all help

thanks billy, so i guess cans up is ok.

it'll make changing the settings an easier reach anyway.

i am waiting for the 2" lift version shocks. the one inch is at maxed extension with the 1" ranchos and the 3/4" MOREs when the cj is just sitting in the garage. so they're trading em out even. hopefully the new rear ubolt kit will come at the same time and soon.

if the ride with just the new front springs and the old beater shocks is any indication, i think this will be a very nice upgrade.

i am running mine upside down also. with the 9000s it is easier to get at the switch to adjust them.

some work ok upside down and some do not.. the gas shock can go either way but some of the oil shocks won't work upside down.. I had this problem so I made new shock plates that moved the shocks out another 1/2"

so i see. nice cj btw!
after looking at yours i am beginning to think that my "69" is a 68 or 68.5 in spite of the serial number. esp since i had to return the rear spring kit to rancho for a #711 which is supposed to be for a 68 and before. the one for a 69-71 didn't fit, the ubolts had too large a curve.

    what is your serial number?
