...conversion in your Delco equipped 225 Dauntless, what part number did you use and who gave you the best price? I'm ready to pull the trigger... :D

How about the coil? Did anyone upgrade to the Flamethrower? (1.5 or 3.0 Ohm/ 40,000 or 60,000 volts?) Or did the stock (in my case Accel) coil work fine? I'll be ordering the PNX-1165 shortly from Summit, just want to get some gouge about the coil.

I'm using a Yellow normal size Accel on our Mustang that has a MSD 6A spark boz and Petronix trigger and it works so well I once found a plug wire that showed almost totally resistnce yet I was getting no miss! it was a very short wire only about 5" so the combo was able to shoot the juice down it even though it was such crap.

I'm running a standard size Jacobs coil with mine.
I bought my Pertronix about 9 years ago, Summit has a better price than what I paid.

I ordered both the coil and ignitor (coil p/n is 40011, 1.5ohm 40,000v) I first tried with the stock coil - ran very well. Then with the pertronix coil - had to shorten the initial timing from 10BTDC to 6BTDC way too much preignition. I also tried bypassing the ballast resistor (recommended by PNX for v8 apps) - couldn't tell any difference except that the coil ran hotter, I put it back.

BTW I'm now running an .065" plug gap. I average 23mpg on the highway (compared to 17-18 before) at moderate speeds. (3.73, 235/75R15)

That's one of the reasons I'm doing the swap. Yesterday's fillup netted 16 MPG, all commuter miles for that tank. Hoping to see a 2 MPG increase and the "cure" for a slight miss I can't seem to get rid of... Interesting about having to retard the timing 4 degrees after the Flamethrower install. I'll have to remember that as I, too, bought the coil. Thanks for the info. FWIW, none of the parts were available thru my FLAPS, and JEGS would have had to backorder it, so I bought from Summit; in the mail as we speak! :)

    Splitfire.......j/k :D

ACR43S. When I first put the PNX on I gapped a new set of plugs at .045". After a whille I tried .055". Maybe just a coincidence, but my mileage increased with the larger gap. The plugs are nice light brown color (except 2 cylinders that are burning a little more oil than the others). I just a few days ago tried the .065 gap. So far I can't tell any difference. If that continues I'll go back to .055 when I put new plugs in. YMMV

I picked up another 225 last month. Hopefully I'll get it rebuilt and installed this winter. Can't wait to actually need to change the oil instead of just adding a quart every week and changing the filter every other month
