Tranny Skidplate

    okay so I swapped in my SM420 and have a D20. Anyone have any ideas or designs or pictures for a skid plate?

    Heres a pic of mine. Its made out of 1/4 steel diamond plate and bolt to the stock crossmember. I just cut a plate to and bolted it to the bottom and them cut the side pieces and welded them so they were the same angle as the sides of the crossmember. The tab you see sticking off the rear protects the D18 e-brake.

    Its pretty beefy :twisted:

    Hey Has anyone ever thought of coating their skid plate with that SNOT like stuff Drift boat guys put on the bottom of Thier boats so they will slid over raocks and not hang up and spin the boat in the current???

    It goes on thick like maybe 1/2" and when it wears away they just slap some more on it's some type of epxoy I think.

    Along these line wouldn't the Diamond Plate have texture to get hung up on something more then a smooth plate?

    I have little if any experiance with rock crawling and such. But this got me thinking.

    48 CJ-2A that looks like a 3A that sits on a 5 frame that has a 134L T90 D18 DANA 27/41 5.38 Much easier to just say "Chug A Lug" or "Chug" for short.

    I think the texture of the diamond plate would make very little difference as far as hanging up on rocks..... Joes skidplate is nice.......:D

    The diamond plate makes nice rock smoke :D

    It really does not make a difference, the rocks grind away before the skidplate does.
