Unknown on M38a1

    What is this thing? Its a button of some sort, 2-2.5" in diameter.

    It screws in and out but I haven't figured out what it does.

    Well it still has a foot starter switch. Its tucked up under the dash just above that "thing". Hmmm.

    Its nothing more than a foot rest, honest. With the mechanical throttle linkage and such a short wheelbase it is really difficult at times to maintain even throttle pressure on rough roads. That rest was intended for one to rest the right side of thier foot on while the left side of the foot is on the throttle. Sounds silly, but it works!

    Foot rest, have found them on several early ones I've owned. Threads into place of one of the bolts that the floor cover panel.

    It’s a foot rest like Steve says, but some call it a governor.

    Hmm. Now thats interesting. I'll have to give it a try. I was leery about turning it to much in case I was making some sort of adjustment or it held something in place that I would have a hard time getting to.
