Whats the best way to remove the rear crank bearing cap on the 225? I figure that I'll replace at least the lower half of the rear main seal while I have the oil pan off.

I've got the bolts out and BFH in hand but I know this isn't the proper technique  The FSM says to use a special puller bolt?

There may be a better way, but I think I used a bunch of pry bars, hammer and other less than ideal instruments.

Use the bolts that held on the cap and squeeze them together like a handle then you have a little leverage to move it around and pull it down. This works for me.Just to be clear you put the bolts back in their holes but not threaded in.GOOD LUCK.

I use a soft headed hammer (brass) and just tap the bearing cap side to side gently, and it'll free up......

Well I decided not to replace the seal since its not leaking. I'm getting oil at the bottom of the BH but its gear oil. Pretty sure its the input shaft seal on the T14.

Probably better that I just leave it alone...knowing my luck I would cause a leak instead of fixing one  Thanks for the info guys, I'll replace the seal eventually :D
