Well I pulled the Muncie out of the 51 ‘cause it was leaking like a siv. Was not sure how well the T90 I had sitting around was going to work and turned out the clutch was OK ( what I was worried about) but the pilot bearing was too small – didn’t even think about that till I got to lookin. I decided the heck with it, I am going to pull the 231 and put in the 225 I have been wanting to put in if I have to tear it apart that much – that’s the part that gets me in trouble in a hurry.

It took me 3 evenings to pull the 231 and put the 225 in with the Tranny, Tcase and OD ‘cause I was working alone. I thought I was home free as I was pulling out the boxes of parts I have been gathering to do the swap and hit a snag. The headers don’t fit as the 231 is post ‘79. I only have a couple weeks to get it back on the road to be ready for some 4x4ing on vacation.

I have regular manifolds, but would have to have a custom exhaust built instead of just hooking up the super traps I have to a header. Around here that may take a while as my old exhaust guy isn’t around any more and I don’t know anyone to take it to.

I need suppliers of headers for the 225 if you know any good ones. Been doing some searches, but not hitting any home runs.

Thanks for any helpful hints too.

i have a complete set that came with my engine... i don't think they are even that old since the mufflers look pretty new. if you are interested pm or email me and i can get you some pics. if anything they can get you on the road now and you can either sell 'em or put them on another jeep after you figure out what you want. i am thinking around $100 for the set, ready to bolt in and drive.

i also have some v6 parts if you need any.

I have a set of fenderwell 225 headers I am currently using in a 46 cj2a that I would trade you or others for exhaust manifolds. Headers are pretty rusty, probably 5 years old, two years of actually use - you know repairs, mods etc. Anyway they have glass packs on them and 2 inch aluminzed pipes that exit to side behind rear wheels.

Or if anyone has any exhaust manifolds they wish to part with, I am interested.
    PM me
    Thanks

Headmans can be had at Summit for about $149, the last time I looked, mine are 13 years old and still work fine with no rust holes. They are now coated with the Eastwood manifold paint.
