Jeep Warranty

What were the specifics of the warranty on a jeep CJ5 from the 60s? Just curious.

 

Life time warranty, when it breaks its lifetime is over.

 

I want to say it was something like 3 years, it's in the owner's manual but the warranty was the reason ford put the F script stamp on everything.

First time I ever heard that. Can you elaborate?

 

Surely that was during WWII, not the Sixties. (?)

 

Ford put the F on everything because of his ego. He wanted everyone to know that Ford made the part(s). Nothing more than that from what I have ever heard or read.

 

IIRC my '73 came with 1 year / 12,000 miles.

 

My ‘78 was the same way 1 year 12,000 miles.

Willys didn't have to repair F stamped vehicles.........

Thank you. 1 year, 12,000 miles. I was kind of wondering if things started to leak before the end of the warranty.

 

Both Willys and Ford had large script logos on the rear of the body until 1942 when the government prohibited that form of advertising.

My Dad used to say the script bolts and so on were Ford's sneaky way of still promoting their brand with GIs.

I'd also note that Ford had used their script very freely on many parts even back in their Model T days. Perhaps to differentiate them from the many aftermarket suppliers trying to cash in on the world's most produced car.
