Just FYI...if you're interested in "old skool" flairs (like Patrick's Jeep has):

They're ABS plastic, so not flexible like the new rubber-impregnated ones, but they don't have the marker light cutout and don't hang down nearly as low as the later style flairs.

They're manufactured by these guys yet, but they want to charge list price if you order direct. I ordered a set from:

    Olympic 4x4 Supply
    E-Mail : oly4x4@oly4x4.com
    Sales Number : 1-800-752-9979
    Information : 360-568-7728

They're 2 weeks out (manufacturer doing another run on Monday), so get a call into them if you're interested. $81+ shipping for the set of 4...

No - quite a different profile. They stick out from the body at more of a 90 deg, and don't extend down so far into the wheelwell space.

SSDutch has the same thing as your pic, and I like these others better...less of a visual presence on the Jeep, and no marker light flat spot.

Maybe Patrick can snap a pic from the same angle.

Thanks Mike. I wouldn't mind changing mine out to those. I like the
"less visual presence". I think mine are to much. Didn't know there
was an alterative. Thanks again... :stout: :stout:

Not the greatest pic...but a bit of a view:

    try this

My only fear is that the new flares won't cover the holes from the current ones...we'll see!

I see. Those are pretty neat. I might need to order those. I like them.
I have the same fear. They screwed the both on the inside the wheel
well and the exterior body. The rear ones are just on the inside the well.
Let know know how it works out Mike. Good luck and thanks again Mike.

If you want to come up and do the bodywork to get rid of the holes from the current ones....feel free.

I wouldn't add them if they weren't there, but these should look better than what's on there.

FWIW, I bolted mine on using the holes for the "original" type flair, so they do cover the holes. I used fender "gimp" from Bushwhacker under them. JCW also sells them, they call them "mini flares" IIRC.

I've seen that stuff under the term "fender welting". Same stuff that separated the body/fenders on original VW bugs. I used to have a roll of it somewhere, may have given it to my son for his beetle.

Got the flares today - here's a couple pics that shows the difference between old and new.

Difference in overhang into the fenderwell looks to be about 1.5"

Not sheep for some pieces of plastic - about $100 to my door.

I had the "Old Skool" type - they do look good and are cheaper. Not very durable though as they only lasted about a year. One good (medium difficulty) trail ride and they were broken.
Much better than nothing for keeping mud off the inside of the windshield.
I really didn't like installing the newer style - all those holes through the fender! It was painfull but turned out to be worth it.

    just my .02
