EZ Steer on ebay has the ford box mount that herm's sells for half price. It shows bolts where countersunk versions should be but that can easily modified....Bob

i dont have any experience with this set up, but it seems like I've read about guys having lots of problems with it.
Is anyone using this style of steering successfully?

This weekend I had to show a guy a jeep with the reverse set-up because his fiberglass flip front Would interfere with the Saginaw hoses. The frame couldn't handle the Saginaw box on the horn while the bumper was part of the tilt.

quite a few of the 4cyl guys on OWF seem to run it successfully - most of them have seemingly also had much better experiences with Herm than many here. Although its tried and true, I've never been a fan of the classic saggy front frame rail mount given its location etc....but I am not fab savvy enough to come up with a better solutions...?

Agreed, it's somewhat vulnerable to rocks, and puts a lot of stress on the already weak front frame horns.
Herm's Ford setup solves both of those issues, but it's putting the steering box into an area without much real estate, and I've read of guys having issues getting the drag link to line up properly.

I ran the Herm setup for several years (mostly)without issues. Had I used loctite originally I probably wouldn’t have had the problems I did. After 5years I did swap to a Saginaw box.

I see a heckuva lot of those up for sale.
Saginaw is true and tried. So much so Jeep went to it in 1972 and carried it through for a heckuva lotta years. It works.

I had the same experience as @Buildflycrash and after mine failed on the Rubicon I switched to Saginaw with hydro assist. With the 4.3 v6 and Ford power steering, replacing the power steering pump was a nightmare.
