Not that I plan on using my heater/ventilation much, but the second knob (heat/vent) is especially spongy feeling. No tactile feel whatsoever. Is this a “behind the dash” component that needs to be replaced? It would be nice to be able to blow hot air when I want to.
Side question, I’ve noticed in other forums that people upgrade their CJ’s with a “blazer blower”. Recommended?

Don't know what year Jeep you have, but my 67 CJ5 heater has a Cable operated heat/vent control that works a flap in the heater box from either fresh air or heated air forced through the heater coil. If yours is that perhaps your cable is disconnected, or broken.

I didn't have the vacuum controls for the everything else except the cable Oldpappy mentioned. I bought a couple decent quality choke type cables and worked the other dampers with them instead of vacuum. I do have one of the vacuum diaphrams on a shelf somewhere.

Your Jeep looks like a '76 and up with a completely different heater than most of us here are used to. This should probably be posted in the Intermediate section even though the Jeep is newer than those too.

I would check with Collins Brothers Jeep for those later heater pieces.

Not enough info on the vehicle.
The Blazer motor refers to 15amp gm truck blower motors.
An early CJ has a 7.5 Amp motor and the recirculating function is an incomplete design lacking an internal baffle and cabin air inlet.
