I needed a little length on my front dshaft after the wrangler spring over, and didnt have any tubing with an ID that fit the factory OD. I basically sleeved the smaller diameter of the dshaft with an internal sleeve. I got about 4 inches of overlap, and the tubing I used was 3/16 wall. My question is: Is the inside sleeve with thicker material than the factory tube stronger, or weaker, or a negligable difference?? THis is a temp shaft, but want to know of anyones experience with this on the trail, should I need it. Thanks in advance for the reply. Advise on Dshaft length mods welcome as well.

If its welded well, it I would try it out for a while and see how it does. I needed a longer front shaft, and I took a longer shaft that was too long and cut it down. worked great at tellico.

I have sleeved a rear dshaft with a larger diameter tube, but I am curious about the smaller internal sleeve. Any Opinions???

If the welds are good, it should be OK.

I have done similar things myself. I made a 2 week temp shaft once and it held up well through all sorts of abuse.
