Radiator Replacement On Cj5

    Thank you--I didn't see anything boiling out, just slow smoke/steam from the grill. I will see what the thermometer says.

    I put an alum. rad on mine in the fall and it steamed and smoked. Had lots of trial and error with how tight to get the hose worm clips but honestly I think it was just overfilled and needed to find a happier expansion area on the top of the rad. I had it with the top hose about 1/2 covered in coolant but now it doesn't do smoke or leak any droplets or steam a bit. Sadly I made the mistake on replacing the factory original (or not long after) t-stat when I did it with a motorad. The old one opened just above 1/2 on my gauge nicely, this one waits til about 2/3rds. Hopefully you're just a bit overfilled.

    You could put an overflow tank on it.

    This is encouraging, thank you! I looked this morning after it had cooled, and the coolant had dropped so maybe it's working itself out. I did put a new thermostat in during the process so it may be same as your experience. Thanks!

    No need to use any water in 50/50 it's already cut and ready to use.....
