Another 2150 Swap

An earlier post regarding a 2150 carb swap got me thinking about doing the same thing. I scored a super clean 2150 off of a `87 Wagoneer for $20. It has the altitude compensation device on the back and looks promising to me.

The one thing I did notice though, is the baseplate has a big "footprint". I've got an adapter coming but I wonder... does anyone know if a 2150 is a direct bolt on for an Offenhauser manifold.

I'm thinking that could be a worthy upgrade if I can find a used one reasonably priced. New prices are outrageous.

 

All the Motorcraft 2bbl carbs have the same bolt pattern (also the same as the big Holley 2300 2 bbl). IDK what the Offy manifold is set up for, you may or may not need an adapter.

 

More research tells me the Offy has a square Holley four barrel pattern and a second pattern which I guess is for the Edelbrock carbs. The adapter I have on order will mount a 2150 to a stock manifold so I guess I'm going to have to order another one if I can get a manifold. I have a bid on one going... a little over four days left on the auction.

 

While the bolt pattern is the same. there are two different bases. If the manifold doesn't match the carb, you can have a manifold leak at the rear. An adapter may be necessary.

 

The Offy intake apparently accepts a four barrel Holley or a Carter AFB style four barrel so the 2150 will definitely require an adapter. I've located a really slick looking unit on Ebay that I'll purchase if my manifold buy doesn't go sideways.

BTW, the 2150 I bought came off an AMC Grand Wagoneer with a 360. It has an altitude compensation device on the back. I'm really hopeful this carb will work out nicely.
