    Do I use gear oil or chassis grease into the filler hole? What do you guys use?

    The lack of lube prolly wouldn't have been so bad, if the bearings hadn't all fell out at the same time. Gotta tell ya, I felt like Popeye by the time we made it back to Crawford's! :shock:

    the grease eventually wipes off the worm gear and wear is accelerated and it kinda binds... I even drilled it and tapped for a grease fitting so I could re fill it at will.. i eventually put soooo much grease (you are gonna love this... wait for it... wait for it...) when i turned the wheel it spooged nice black grease out the end of the column and into my lap... it was then i realized the importance of the oil.. oh and the Idler arm thing has a hole for oil to flow to the outer end of the bushing near the seal that don't work so well with grease..

    Haha ya know it wasone of those things that other wise woulda really made ya mad but there I sat at the stop sign laughing myself stoopid.. anyhow ya pretty much have to run oil, if ya wanna go heavier get some 140 wt gear oil or even something like a 480 or even a 640 gear oil (for slow industrial gearboxes). if I still had my ross that is what I would use..

    Wanna know how to make coal? Mix graphite in wth whats left of the oil/grease. Drive for an unspecified length of time or until you break one of the steering wheel spokes trying to turn wheel. Break box open walla, coal. I guess if the fellow could have kept turning it it would have eventually turned to diamonds, he just wasn't man enough. This is just some fella some one told me about you understand. ;)
