Looking to set Willy up with some good breathers for gas tank with non vented fuel cap. Filler neck has a 3/16 barb for vent hose, but wish to have a breather that will not leak gas if tip on side or upside down. Same for trans (T-18) and D18, I was thinking of teeing these breathers together and maybe finding a vent that would block off if tipped on side or on roof. Also same for diffs. It may be a possibility of tipping and do n ot wish to pollute or get hot oil or gas on me or some igntion source.

    Thanks for any help

Summit or any other race shop sells rollover vent valves for that very thing... well the fule anyhow. For the axle/case vents I am going to run hose from the vents to a common header which will run up into the engine compartment real high to prevent water contamination on water crossings and i will just put some form off ball check valve in the line for rollover.

CJs later than 72 (at least in CA) have an anti-rollover valve from the factory. This is in series with the stock liquid check valve for the vapor recovery. The '72 CJ tank has external vent lines coming from all four corners, so that the vapor pocket is always vented. I assume the later tanks do too, but they're internal to the tank.

The line from the liquid check valve goes to the charcoal canister under the hood. The charcoal canister is vented to the engine vacuum with a valve system that has become more complicated over the years.

When I ran my drivetrain vents I ran all of them (both axles, trans, and t-case) to a common vent hose that goes up on the firewall and there I looped it back over and down with a filter on the end.

From the rollovers I've seen its not that big of a deal if you push the vehicle back over quickly. Also even though the trans may be sealed it will still leak out the shift tower. Make sure your shift boot is good.
