T86aa To T90 Internals Conversion Help

I currently have a cj5 with the 225 dauntless v6 and the t86aa transmission not sure which transfer case. I have been doing lot of reading on t86aa and converting it to the t90 on here I have a good idea of what's needed to do this. I know you need the t90 j input shaft and all gears need to be changed to t90 gears but is that all it requires? Also where would one source the t90 j input shaft and other parts to do this.

 

Post a wtb ad in the classified section. Just about every old Jeep owner has an extra T90 or 2 sitting around!
Good used OEM parts are better than reproduction pats of questionable quality.

 

2X on Doug's post, especially so for sourcing used parts. The only caveat here is don't accidentally end up with any of the T90C gears. You will likely be way ahead of the game just to pick up a complete usable T90J for a parts source.

 

I would find a t-14 or something else and part out the t86

 

If your looking for a T90J, they are originally found in 226 flathead powered Willys Wagons and pickups. Most of the aftermarket input shafts are garbage, so look for a good original.
