    1. These are the brackets that were modified by PO to fit inset lights. They were working and my tendency is to run with them on the repaired panels. I can replace them for $40 for the pair. Thoughts?

    2. The tail light body panels on Kaiserwillys have an additional bracket spot welded on for the tail lights, but the parts book looks like there are just three holes drilled, no bracket, for the fish eye tail lights. Which is correct?

    3. Does anybody have dimensions for hole size and location where the tail light, backup light (I am adding), and passenger side fuel fill port go?

What year jeep & what tail lights are you using?

I'd spring for the new supports.

When I replaced those on mine (rusted out), I had issues getting them welded solidly to the body panel....I had to redo them. I am not that skilled, but I'd find it a PITA to try getting a good weld to the body panel with those cut-up ones? those body mount to panel welds take a lot of stress as the frame flexes so much on these old jeeps.

It is a 67, but I cut out the damaged part of the panel and am going to stitch in a new piece with the new brackets I am about to order. So I essentially have a blank slate.
These are the tail and reverse lights I ordered.

I am trying to have what I think is an early 70’s kind of setup like this.

Since you posted a photo of my Jeep, I guess I have no choice but to reply. :D

I went out to the shop and measured my '69 and '71. Pardon the blurry pictures I was using a tablet one-handed to take them and it was surprisingly difficult.

This is the left side tail light on the '69. Horizontally, it is 3 1/4" from the outside edge of the tail light panel to the centerline of the light. The backup lights are on thie same centerline:

On the '69, the tail light center line is 3" above the bottom of the panel and the Backup light is 9":

The '71 has the tail lights in the same place, but since it has the factory rear tank, the backup lights were moved up to 12 3/4" from the bottom of the panel to clear the filler neck:

IMG_0724.jpeg Follow-up question for @Fireball or anyone else who knows. Is this the correct order for installation of the fuel filler neck?

I have the gasket and filler neck and ordered a “gas filler mount” which I think may take up too much space on the tail light panel.

The late 70-75 rear fuel tank filler neck used a filler neck that looks like this:
    https://www.fillernecksupply.com/19...r-neck-metal-fill-tube-gas-tank-pipe-992923k/

and has a filler tube with the vent tube going from the tank vent into the filler tube like this:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/266387957332?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr=1&amdata=enc:1Pgvflv4bTq6biXj3jREZbw61&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-166974-028196-7&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=266387957332&targetid=2205044340125&device=c&mktype=pla_with_promotion&googleloc=9021148&poi=&campaignid=19899072636&mkgroupid=147169645146&rlsatarget=pla-2205044340125&abcId=9310538&merchantid=108777909&gclid=CjwKCAjwgsqoBhBNEiwAwe5w031TVdffTx4sVR_qWChlfoPKJBiU_mq2v8j_ms3fGv6PFugooVnz0BoCGEkQAvD_BwE

from your drawing, it looks like you are using a later CJ filler neck with the dual vent/filler hose connections ....I 'think' those were only used with the recessed style filler trim piece like this:
    https://www.amazon.com/Omix-Ada-177...lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

No reason you can use the set-up you drew, but its a larger size and may be causing issues with how you spaced the lights?

Here is another image of an intermediate CJ similar to what fireball posted, but without the diamond plate - this is from timgr's cj. You can see the two filler neck bolts just below the filler neck and the round rubber grommet/trim piece instead of the large square plastic recessed trim piece.

I used the intermediate era tank (which is different from the later tank) and went with the intermediate era filler neck etc like Fireball and the above pic....but I didn't want to move my reverse lights up higher to fit the filler neck, so i installed the filler neck up higher with some minor modification to the filler hose (ignore the body damage):

Personally, I'd reuse the support parts - most of it is there and your going to save $100.

As far as filler necks, I have this one (I call it a '79 with the 15gal tank) works well.

Got it. I was thrown off by the intermediate filler neck. The MTS tank I have is for a later CJ that uses the dual vent/hose connection. Partsdude recommended the omix ada fuel filler neck cover/gas filler mount that you linked and is shown in Buildflycrash's photo. I'm just not sure it will fit with the rear lights and reverse lights.

It does take up some space back there. The top edge of the plastic rectangle is 8.25 inches from the bottom edge of the panel. You could lower it another half inch but that’s about it.

I drilled and temporarily mounted the tail and reverse lights and it looks like I could mount filler two different ways. The filler neck is going to fit more naturally the way it is shown in the first photo. Unfortunately, I cut the ring in the second photo out of the middle of the filler neck cover in the first photo. What do you guys think?

If you don't like the smaller fill due to angle or whatnot you can cut a larger hole. To make a smaller hole is tricky.
