Here's the deal. I bought this February 1970 DJ-5A to get a bunch of small parts for my restoration project. It was already missing the engine and transmission when I got it. The grill, rear axle, wheels, gas tank and steering box are reserved but not yet sold. So if you want one of those let me know. Mirrors, seat brackets, seat belts, dome light, windshield washer and wiper parts I'm taking.

Hood, fenders, most of the body (I need the rear fender skirts), front (solid tube) axle, and frame are up for grabs. So will be some smaller parts from in and under the dash. heater motor, heater core, instrument cluster and so on. I'm still removing what I want. But let me know what you want. The more I can get to someone else the less goes to scrap. I know I'm only going to get like $25-50 in scrap for the body and frame. So I'd rather you come cut off a portion of the cowl you need then it get turned into razor blades. I'd really like everything gone or spoken for by Labor Day. If you want something and can get it from me at the Mason Dixon Willy's Jeep Gathering that's great! I'll hold it for you. If you want something mailed that's small, that's cool too. If you want something big, please come pick it up. Especially if it's a portion of the body. I'll hand you the grinder with the cutting wheel and you can take the chunk you desire. Happy to get more pictures of stuff. The floor is borderline flinstone mobile, the doors flex and crunch from the rust and you can put your fingers through the fenders. But the cowl, gussets, dash, inner rear fenders seem pretty good, so is the rear floor and the roof if you desire. Side walls are in bad shape. Hood is beautiful though.

Dang it, drove right past you 8/14 at about 2:00 on my way back from VA. I could have used the fenders for that price

I'd love to buy the tailgate but I'm 475 miles north east of you near Boston. IF it's not a huge PITA to ship it, I'd be interested. If it is, no worries at all & understood.

So I might have a local buyer. But barring that I am going to West Springfield in January for the big model train show. But it's not just a tailgate. It's a full height rear door. So I think it would fall into freight for shipping.

Some of the DJ postal hoods don’t have the inner front box section. They have only a skin and are pretty flimsey. You might check how yours is if there is any interest. Yours has the early “flat” grill that is pretty rare for a postal.

    Donny,

Thanks! I did not realize that. I looked and mine curls over on the front but I looked at some pictures of others and yup, not boxed. Fascinating. I guess that was another place Kaiser saw they could shave off some expenses on the government spec vehicle. And yes this one and my own are 1970's by 1971 when it went to AM General the grill and hood design changed radically.

    Front and rear axles sold.
    Steering column & wheel sold.

Frame and springs is available for $50 obo if anybody wants it. I know how little the scrap yard will give me. I was careful to not damage the frame while removing the front bumper and the axles.

    Here's the instrument cluster:

Unfortunately the wiper switch fell apart when I looked at it, didn't even have a chance to touch it... Still between the two Jeeps I can supply you with a decent knob.

I'm back home from travel for work and gearing up to clean up around here along with getting ready for the Mason Dixon show. The frame and springs are still available if anyone is interested. $50 gets you the frame and four springs. Mark, I'll be pulling those trim rings for you today. The fenders and hood are still here. I can bring any of that those to the Mason Dixon show in a couple of weeks.
