The Willys wagon has a 1962 Ford 260 v8 under the hood, and the generator fails to generate electricity. Since ‘correctness’ matters not at all, I’d much rather have an alternator.

Where do I begin to look for a bracket? Or, will I have to build my own? I’ll likely steal the alternator off the derelict CJ in the shed, since the 5.3 that will go in it has its own.

Then I have to modify the wiring, I guess, to delete the old voltage regulator.

Ford went to alternators in 65. There's a lot of variations in SBF timing covers but I'm pretty sure something from a late 60's 289 or 302 will work for you.

Yeah, anything off of a later v-belt 289/302 should work fine, all the way up through about 1985 (in the pickups and broncos).

    Duh.

Went there (eBay). Found upper and lower brackets for $16.95, delivered. Bought them.

    Thank you!
