Marketplace Strikes Again!

I went on marketplace yesterday and saw an Allis Chalmers on today's picks. It was priced right and looked really nice. Went out this afternoon and picked it up! It is a 1949 WD. Shouldn't take much to get it going. It has new rear tires and the fronts aren't that bad. Should be a fun project!

 

When AC sold their Milwaukee factory, a company called "ReGenCo" bought it (which later went to Toshiba). I made a business visit back in 2007. They had refurbished the building. All brick, huuuge solid wooden beams and the original riveted beam bridge crane. All kinds of cool stuff in there. But in the Lobby, was a brand new, never restored, never used WD. Not sure of the year but it was very cool to see.

Got it running and driving today! Not a bad little tractor. I have to take the gas tank off again and clean it. Rust keeps plugging up the pickup.

 

I went on Facebook Marketplace today and saw a nice "Empire" tractor, and have been fighting the urge to go snatch it up ever since.

Be careful with that narrow front Alice, especially if you plan to use it on hilly ground.

When I was a wee lad, I remember the panic on the farm when my uncle rolled one on a side hill.
He was OK (jumped off), tractor needed a fender and a new muffler. A Super M with the road gear and a narrow front end will open your eyes wide and pucker your behind!
