Hey guys, I have a stupid question. I am in the middle of replacing my mechanical fuel pump on my V6 and I just wanted to ask a quick question to make sure I wasn't about to break anything. The pump doesn't seem to want to go all the way into the hole, it stops maybe 1/8" before coming in contact with the mounting surface and I can't get my head up there to see what it's hitting. Do I just need to thread in the nuts and tighten it down flush or is there some trick I am missing?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Tighten away assuming you can push it up to the holes. Shouldn't be anything stopping it other than the lever hitting the cam. That's what makes it work.

Sparky, just did this yesterday. Insert pump with the lever pointing slighty down, after lubing it. If you then push on the bottom of the pump, you will feel it hitting the cam lobe that makes it work and a springy resistance to your pushing. Insert bolts and slowly and evenly, tighten them up. You should be good to go.

Good description Barry. Been a while since I've done it but I recall mine doing the same thing.
