I recently picked up a new condition unused 8274-50. Stuffed away it could be several years old by now.
Any way to date this thing from the number shown ?[IMG]
[IMG]The only missing part is the clutch engage handle.
Any suggestions as to where to buy a new one ?

Are we sure that knurled brass is not the threaded center of the old tootsie pop?

Exactly. That's the core of the broken and missing knob. It will need to be removed. As I noted above, Montana Jack's has replacement knobs.

Yeah I considered just making a Tee handle with a set screw.
Just went out for another look.
    Yep Joseph nailed it.
The brass knurling was only a threaded remaining core.
So all I need is make a handle or find a knob with 5/16” NC threads.[IMG]

According to Montana jacks the original is genuine plastic. So it looks like I need to make one from
    Brass or aluminum.

From what I read on the warn site the -50 is the 50th anniversary and was a 10 year run from 98-08 then the -60 was 08+ prior to that should have a metal remote socket and date code. So it might be 20 years old.

@oldtime , if you are going to date this wench, just curious, what did you use for a pickup line?

I got her with the standard “cold steel” pickup line. What can I say, I just could not help myself .
The 36/24/36 wench models were not available.
A little top heavy but honestly the 82/74/50 wench is about the best a man can get.
