Looking at some new tires and thinking 235/75R15. What would be better a 6” rim or 7”?

Either will work for that tire size.

Doesn't the axels count on what tire size. I put 235/ 75R15's on my Jeep because they are the same size Jeep put on stock 3:73 axels.

6” wide stock rims are fine for a 235/75-15. No problem with running them of 7” or 8” either. I used to run that size passenger car tire on 8” rims because they aired down real nice for out on the beach. They hardly left a footprint.

Yes, CJ5s in the very early 60s (maybe late ‘50s) could have 4-1/2”, then 5” and 5-1/2” by the later 60s. I’m not sure when the 6” rims became standard, but the early AMCs (intermediates) used those for sure.

I love the Ansen's I have on my Jeep they make my Jeep 2" wider without being outside the fenders. I wish I had kept all 5 of the factory wheels. I did buy a set of Chrome steel wheels from a guy with a CJ3B all done, 15X7" He just wanted something else.[IMG]

The Yellow Jeep is the one I bought the 7" chrome wheels off of, the owner wanted some different ones. I have Anises mags on mine now, but am going to buy some more tires so I can switch them every now and then. My Jeep is a Black TP clone.
