Swapping out my locking hubs for a a drive flange for first time after doing a herms kit. do I hammer down the dust cap flush with flange or just until it’s tight? I’m using my rubber mallet and it has stopped about 1/2” from flange. Want to double check before I get out the bfh.
    thanks!

I think tight is fine, the caveat being the farther they stick out, the more susceptible to damage they are. If you REALLY thump them home, they tend to not look very nice after you have to remove them again. It doesn't hurt to put a thin film of RTV on the inside. It keeps the water out of the flange/axle end.
