I've searched the forum and found multiple pages with links to serial number information, however, all the links do not work. Is there a current link / chart with serial number decoding information?

My serial number is 8305 A 205442. It is titled as a '67 though some of its features suggest that year may not be accurate.

Here's a page with some code info regarding motor, year, etc.

    https://www.morris4x4center.com/knowledge-center/vin-jeep-cj-1955-1971/

Haven't found a VIN-year chart on my model year yet, but the last six start with 244xxx, which according to the chart above which ends with 233xxx in 1967 (2nd column) would seem to put it in the 1968 range, which is what's listed on my title.

The codes on the linked page I've listed above do help; it shows that my motor was original to the CJ, with mine being the V6-225 with emissions (code 7). My mechanic, a CJ-7 owner himself, thought the motor mounts didn't look original, that maybe it started with the 134 and was converted, while another mechanic CJ-7 owner, and total CJ enthusiast, said it looked original. The second guy obviously knew his stuff.

The first seven numbers indicate build codes. The last six indicate which year it was built.

I can't actually find a VIN plate on my CJ. I do see the silver Kaiser plate on the passenger side firewall above the battery, but no VIN. I pulled my numbers directly off of my title. My CJ has a custom dash so I'm wondering if the VIN plate came off when they pulled the old dash out? Couldn't find anything on the firewall itself. My year is normally found on the driver's firewall or driver's dash. I don't find either.

Here's a great .pdf file for our Jeeps, including VIN locations, codes, engine codes/locations, etc:

You don’t actually have a VIN on your Jeep. The numbers are serial numbers that typically have a prefix for the model. The “5th, 6th, and 7th digit” letter referenced on some charts (like Morris Jeep) didn’t exist prior around ‘66 or ‘67, and only the 5th digit was used for these years.
VIN numbers actually became standardized starting in the 1981 model year.
