Oil Shelf Life?

That was the Smell of Happiness to me as a kid.

 

Don't buy new trucks from dealerships. It is self-inflicted Indentured Servitude. Why volunteer for their abuse because they obviously can't survive on an honest business model?

When I bought a new Harley in 1991, the dealer told me I had "invalidated the warranty" when I changed the oil myself at 50 miles. "Fine," I thought, "I don't ever have to come back here." And I never did. That dealership eventually closed it's doors but but I'm still riding the same bike.

 

There is something to be said for changing oil once a year, whether you've hit mileage or not, mostly due to condensation in the engine, but that *necessity* does really vary depending on your climate. But it's not something that's going to destroy a brand new engine if you don't do it.
