The same guy who gave me the motor says I can have the emblems, but they are on Commando doors and I can't get at the back side easily. Are there threaded nuts on these, push nuts or just adhesive to the door? If there's threaded nuts, what size wrench - so I don't have to scrape up my arm while trying to figure it out.

I got mine from the Jeep Salvage yard in Cloquet and I just slipped a flat screw driver in behind and they popped right off, one had threaded nuts that I couldn't get to through the door and the other one was stuck on with double sided tape.

Not sure on the Commando... I do know that the earlier CJ V6 had posts on the back on the emblems with self threading nuts, and at some point (69 or 70 I reckon) they went to sticking them on with double sided tape of sorts........
Also, on the Commando, the paint scheme on the emblems was slightly different than those found on the CJ's......HTH

If there are studs, screwdriver method usually breaks studs. I removed mine that way since i dont have a v6 anymore. I didnt care if they broke or not, and they did

For what I've seen, the difference is related more to year than model. I obtained a set from a 70 or 71 Commando, and they were identical to my originals from my '71... black V and black 6. I've seen some earlier CJs and Commandos that had the red V in the emblem.

And I thought it was year specific, and that doesn't hold water either

I think Jeep had 2 different suppliers and they just stuck whatever, wherever... :D

There's probably some out there that left the factory with a red V on one side and black V on the other. :D
