Hey guys, I'm on to exhaust now. Currently, my Jeep has headers into basically straight pipes since the glass packs are old. Can anyone recommend a good turbo type muffler that has a straight through design so I can retain current exhaust pipes? Or should I just put new glass packs on? I want this to be a little quieter, but not much. I don't want to lose that great Straight Six sound :D

    Any help is appreciated,

I think the "turbo" muffler is more about the shape than anything. It's patterned on the Corvair turbo muffler.

People seem to like the Flowmasters - not too loud. Plus they're sturdy.

If you go flowmaster, I would recommend an 80 series. The 40 series is waaaaaaaaaay too loud!

I think the true "turbo muffler" is a straight through design which has the least restriction or baffles. Turbos produce too much pressure to bounce around in there. I think many turbo mufflers are now just the cheapest muffler on the shelf and sound "special" (that's my take at least).

I am an advocate of the Magnaflow line which we chassis dyno'd on our company trucks with all the best mufflers out there. Magnaflow produced the best results. My 5.3 Chevy sounds like a deep Big Block now!

I am installing a Magnaflow aluminized universal on my 231 Turbo project.

OK, what does two of them cost??? Do they come in 2.25???
I want to quiet in down a little, I'm sure my neighbors already hate me :D I don't want it to sound like a car or even like my 04 Envoy. Same displacement engine, but of course it doesn't have headers and dualies either................Yet :D I'm sure the wifey would love that.
    Thanks for all the input,

Yeah, that's the thing guys, right now High5 rattles my windows, the neighbors windows, and puts every cop on alert. I want to tone it down a little and I think that I will probably go with Magnaflow when it comes time. They have a similar size muffler to what I have now. The glass packs that are on there now are only about 18 inches long, total. So I need something small to fit the tight space under there. I don't want to have to cut the exhaust all to hell to get new muffs in. All this is being put on hold though, gettin' married in three weeks. I have tried to get as much stuff off the list before hand, but it's over now. I was able to dump about a grand in parts in the last month though :D
    Thanks for all the input
